[ Jason's the only one thinking clearly now, even half drunk, and it's a better idea than whatever Eddie's been thinking up. ]

[he slides his hand down Eddie's arm to take his hand once again, and tugs him over to the seats. they have a few minutes before they start boarding, and Jason would really like to get Eddie at least a little bit together by then.]

Hey, I love you. It's gonna be okay. Those shots we drank were hella fucking strong, dude. Do you feel em? I'm feeling no pain right now.

( eddie hasn't sat down from more than a few seconds before he's curling up to jason, fingers lacing against his in both hands. )

Jason, I want this. I wanna get to Florida, and camp out by the ocean and maybe, maybe have some super crazy belated-birthday-beach-sex. But that's only part of it. I'd get on a hundred planes if it meant spending a life with you.

I'm gonna do it. And it's gonna be... It's not gonna be good, but it's gonna be okay.

( that's the mantra for the day, he guesses. he'll be calm if it helps jason be calm, even if he isn't feeling very calm for things to come. but acting calm, even if he's doing it for jason's sake, actually helps him feel better. )

[ okay, well. it's better than freaking out and talking about planes crashing and scaring everyone. Jason can handle Eddie curling up to him, holding on to him. Jason's with him. he's always gonna be with him.]

[the mantra for the day, Jason can get behind that too. he keeps his fingers laced through Eddie's, pulling them against his chest and Eddie's forehead against his.]

[Jason nuzzles his nose into Eddie's, all sentimental and shit.]

( jason's close enough that he can feel eddie smile as much as he can see and hear it. )

( he untangles his fingers from where they lie on his chest so he can run them through jason's hair. )

[ he feels it, and it's good. this is a good headspace for both of them right now. they need it. ]

[Jason closes his eyes now too, cause he can't resist doing so when Eddie's fingers push through his hair. he can never get enough of that.]

I was so scared of you figuring me out. Of knowing what my deal was. I'm really glad you put up with me for long enough to figure it out, too. God, you were such a shit too, but you were always so good to me anyway, and then I realized how much I wanted you.

( eddie tilts his head forward to kiss him, careful to show restraint even in his alcohol+fear-induced state of mind. they’re not back home; he can’t just pull jason on his lap and kiss him until they’re both writhing and panting.

it’s better to keep things light, with fingers trailing from his scalp down to his jaw. )

[Jason kisses him back, soft and slow. they're not back home, and they can't kiss the fuck out of each other, but Jason still makes sure that this slow and soft is the most intimate.]

[Eddie gets another kiss, slow and soft, and then he pulls back and nods, taking Eddie's hand again as he stands, grabbing their bags once again and heading to the line as everyone starts boarding.]

And you better believe we're gonna have crazy beach sex once we get there.

( their moment together [and the promise of epic beach sex] isn't enough to shake away eddie's jitters completely, but he manages to get through checking in and boarding on without incident. he helps get the luggage stowed overhead and get settled in a seat that's closer to the back of the plane than the front. things are filling slowly, but it looks like it's going to be a full flight, so eddie and jason are sharing their row with someone. )

This is your first flight too, right, Jay?

[ Jason helps them get situated and tries to keep his head in the task at hand, even though he's feeling fuzzy. it's ok though, they're in a good spot. better than they were earlier. he's kind of proud of himself for getting them through this, even if just a little bit.

Yup. First flight. It's kinda cool, actually. I'll take the window seat if you want.

Uh. Yeah.

( unsurprisingly, he’d like to be as far away from the window as possible. good on Jason for volunteering. it places eddie in the middle, and some lady on the outside, which he can deal with. )

Yeah, no, planes are super cool. Modern engineering… it’s sorta crazy when you think about it.

[ Jason pretty much figures that much. it's not hard to figure out that the last place Eddie wants to be is by a window.

getting situated is easy after that. they buckle up, Jason looks out the window for as long as he can before he knows he'll have to close it once they take off and Eddie will freak out from the view. it's fine, though. he'd rather his partner be ok. that's all he really wants here. ]

They've really come a long way, I bet. But hey, there's something else I wanna talk about. Do you know how to surf?

Surf? ...No, I don't think so. Figure it's not too different from skating, but I don't think I've skated since I was, like, twelve.

( he knows a change in topic when he sees one, and he's thankful for it. he takes jason's hand against the armrest. )

Skating? Oh man...I hope it's not like skating. Not that I've got anything against it but like yeah, I went skating once. Fell on my ass like seven times. Even worse, cause I was trying to show off to someone.

[Jason squeezes Eddie's hand as they take off.]

I've always wanted to surf but I never got the chance. Figure since we're gonna be by the beach it'll be a cool thing to learn, yeah?

( eddie doesn't look too good. )

Jason, baby, I'm not gonna make it. You're gonna have to... have to surf without me.

Nope, you're not leaving me. You already said so and I'm double holding you to that now.

[Jason snags a barf bag from the back of the seat in front of them and puts it in Eddie's lap, squeezing his hand tighter.]

Just breathe, Eddie. Just breathe, nice and slow, come on. Breathe with me.

[he pulls Eddie's hand against his chest so he can feel him breathing in and out slowly.]

Honestly I'm really glad you're here holding my hand for my first flight cause this is a lot.

( the lady on the outer seat sees these two clearly having a moment and clears her throat, not a fan of whatever gay crisis these two are going through.

eddie breaths slow, which is good. he's looking jason in the eyes, squeezing his hand, which is great. and then jason gets to watch the exact moment where the grip in eddie's hand weakens and eddie's eyes roll back into his head as he passes out on the spot. )

[ Jason glances over at her briefly cause that's all it's worth, but he does flip her off before he looks at Eddie, breathing with him, trying to calm him back down. when has Jason ever been a calm person before, though? clearly plenty, with how he's been with Eddie lately, but it's not a terrible thing.

when Eddie passes out he does panic a little, but it is what it is and well, maybe it's better this way for a while. he pulls Eddie's head against his shoulder and closes his own eyes, taking a few more deep breaths because this really is A lot, but at least Eddie's here with him, and things are gonna be okay. maybe even good.

he even opens his window for a little while to look outside, amazed by how it looks, flying through the clouds. he'll close it when Eddie stirs, but for now he just enjoys the feeling of flying. he's always wanted to fly. ]

( eventually, eddie's eyes open again, but he doesn't move much beyond that.

he's resting against something warm, and everything is comfortable and soft, even if they're super unfamiliar. he doesn't know where he is or how he got here, but he knows what jason smells like, and he knows that he's looking down onto the planet earth from way up high. it's been a while since he's done that. )

BEAUTIFUL, IS IT NOT?

[ Jason starts to close the window when he feels Eddie wake up, but then he stops, looking down at him. his gaze quickly darts over to the lady next to them, but she's fast asleep. hopefully she drugged herself or something. ]

[he slowly slides the window shade back up again, eying Eddie.]

It's beautiful. I've never been up here before.

( with the window opened, eddie leans across jason's lap to press his face to it, trying to take in as much as he can before looking back up at jason. )

[ Jason can't help but laugh a little when Eddie sprawls across him to look out the window, and now he's really glad the lady next to them is out like a light. she'd be flipping her shit right about now.

[Jason keeps looking out the window, running his fingers through Eddie's hair.]

I'd go in a tiny rocket ship with you if you ever wanted to. Or maybe just sky diving, as long as Eddie's passed the fuck out the whole time. Wouldn't want him puking through the air.

( having the maturity of a ten year-old-boy, venom thinks someone puking as they fall through the air is hilarious. when a kind steward comes by for drinks and doesn't why a grown man is spread across jason's lap like a buffet, venom orders 'hot chocolate, with tiny, tiny marshmallow which float upon the surface like lily pads on a ravine' with a grin that threaten to look too wide on eddie's disappointingly human face.

once she's gone, he turns back to jason. )
